Belgrade Airport Compensation: Claim Up to €600 for Delays, Cancellations and Overbooking
Belgrade Airport disruption: check transfer requirements, document missed connections and follow the Serbian complaint procedure for your booking.
A disruption at Belgrade Airport is not enough by itself to establish compensation. This is not an EU departure point. Check national law, the destination and the operating airline. Then establish the disruption, notice or arrival timing, and cause. Refund and care requests need their own assessment.

Connections and disruption help at BEG
A Belgrade transfer can involve a new boarding pass, security procedures and a protected or separate onward ticket. Clarify those details before concluding that an airport connection automatically gives the whole journey EU coverage.
Check transfer requirements
The airport advises passengers to confirm with the airline whether another check-in is needed, and to use a transfer counter when required. Security arrangements depend on the origin of the incoming flight. Follow current signs and staff instructions rather than an old gate map.
Explain a missed connection
Keep the original through itinerary, the inbound arrival, onward boarding deadline, airline instructions and replacement journey. Ask the operator to document the reason for the missed connection. If the flights were separate bookings, preserve each ticket and contact the onward airline.
Ask for assistance at the airport
For reduced-mobility assistance, BEG directs arriving passengers to the relevant check-in staff or Information Service desk. Tell staff if the disruption changes the support you need. Keep records of assistance requested; a service complaint may involve the airport as well as the airline.
A Serbian complaint is a separate procedure
The Serbian Directorate's framework specifies an initial airline complaint within 90 days of the operated or scheduled flight and a 60-day response period once the necessary documents are complete. Keep the reference and proof of that complete-file date. Use the official complaint instructions to check the next step; these periods are not a promised payout time.
Do not apply a universal three-hour EU compensation promise to every Belgrade departure. The Directorate's national delay guidance differs from the EU case-law approach. A standalone Air Serbia flight to the EU, an EU-carrier flight to the EU and an EU-origin through booking can require different assessments.
Use the airline that actually operated your flight, not a current-route assumption. Airport staff can assist with the immediate journey, but the departures board is not a legal decision. Local sources checked September 8, 2026; confirm current transfer and assistance arrangements with the airport and airline.
Find guidance for the airline on your booking
These are selected airline guides, not a list of current operators or routes at Belgrade Airport. Match the operating company on your ticket; the seller or marketing airline can be different. See all airline guides for other carriers.
Choose the problem that happened on your BEG flight
Delayed flight
Check if the final arrival delay reached the compensation threshold.
Cancelled flight
Review notice period, rerouting, refunds, and airline responsibility.
Denied boarding
Check timely presentation, the reason for refusal and whether you volunteered.
Missed connection
One-ticket connections can qualify based on the final destination delay.
Which rules could cover your journey?
These are legal starting points, not scheduled routes, claim-frequency statistics or a final eligibility decision. Keep every flight leg and any remedy already received; the same entitlement cannot simply be recovered twice.
Continue with EU coverage and remedies, UK261, ECAA and national Balkan rules or connections and separate tickets. The ECAA framework does not turn every Balkan airport into an EU departure point.
Why Belgrade Airport claims need more than a simple delay-time check
The departures board records an operational event, not a legal decision. Ask the operating airline to identify the cause, replacement offer and care provided. An airport or handling desk may help with information, but it is not automatically the party that owes flight compensation.
Identify the problem before choosing a claim
Long delays
For EU delay compensation, check at least three hours at arrival and the cause; departure-care thresholds are separate.
Cancellation
Record when notice arrived and the alternative departure/arrival times. Less than 14 days is not enough by itself.
Boarding refusal
Record timely check-in and presentation, the stated reason and whether you accepted a volunteer offer.
Missed connections
Establish whether the journey was a protected single booking or separate tickets, then record final arrival.
Documents you need for a BEG claim
Keep original records privately and submit relevant copies through the official channel. Avoid posting booking references or identity documents in public comments.
Prepare your request to the operating airline
Check the route and airline
Identify the operating carrier, original departure, destination and ticket structure. Use the appropriate regional guide.
Confirm final arrival impact
For delays and missed connections, the important time is usually when you reached the final destination.
Review the airline's reason
Ask how the stated event affected this flight and what reasonable measures were considered. Another flight operating is not conclusive proof.
Prepare the claim file
Separate compensation, unused-ticket refund and care expenses. State the relevant facts and remedy, submit through the official channel and save the claim reference.

Track the stage, not an assumed payout date
| Stage | What to check | Timing caution | What to keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Submitted | Confirmation and any missing documents. | An acknowledgment is not approval. | Claim reference and submission copy. |
| Decision | Reason, accepted remedy and separate expenses. | A published response target is not a payout guarantee. | The full response and relevant evidence. |
| Unresolved | Appropriate ADR, regulator or legal route. | Entry conditions differ; complaints may not stop court deadlines. | Correspondence and dates. |
See the claim-stage guide for focused follow-up. This table is not a measured airport or airline response-time study.
Situations to assess, not reported passenger outcomes
Aircraft-related delay
If an aircraft problem delayed arrival, establish the actual fault and applicable rules before judging a defence.
Cause and timingShort-notice cancellation
If notice was late, compare replacement timings and cause rather than assuming automatic compensation.
Notice and alternativesDisrupted connection
If an onward flight was missed, establish the booking's protection and preserve the complete itinerary.

Ask which fact or rule the decision relies on before choosing the next step.
Your rights while waiting at Belgrade Airport
Meals and refreshments
For long waits, airlines may owe reasonable care even when compensation is disputed.
Hotel and transport
Overnight disruption can trigger hotel and airport-transfer support.
Refund or rerouting
Cancellation rights can include a refund, rerouting, or later travel under comparable conditions.
Facts that can support a claim
- The operator, route and booking fall within the applicable rules.
- The relevant arrival delay or cancellation conditions are met.
- A refusal occurred despite timely presentation and without a valid exclusion.
- Evidence supports the request and no valid compensation defence applies.
Facts that can change the result
- An extraordinary event caused the disruption despite reasonable measures.
- Cancellation notice or replacement timings meet an exception.
- The relevant threshold or route coverage is not met.
- A volunteer agreement, document problem or other lawful refusal needs a different analysis.
